September is the month we go back to school; the time when businesses get back to work from August vacations; and I think, even now, September is a time to reflect and think about how to make the most out of the next year. It’s been engrained in us since we were kids. So this year, I reviewed some of my old work and came across a wonderful collection of photos that was created at the end of summer years ago. I affectionately named it “Brisk Adirondack.” I’ve frequently noticed that in the late summer and early fall - sweaters and bathing suits suddenly go together. This was something I saw when I was a child frequenting Lake George, NY in the Adirondack Mountains or the Cape in Massachusetts.
After a swim, we might throw a sweatshirt on while basking on the dock in the warm sun. Even though the sun and water were still warm, autumn was knocking on the door of the nearby mountains and teasing us with a cool breeze. It’s something I can’t shake from my memory. Years later, I created a spread based on this very vision in my memory.
Cheers to the end of summer, swimsuits and sweatshirts, and of course, new beginnings.
